Liquid Identities

“Forms of modern life may differ in quite a few respects – but what unites them all is precisely their fragility, temporariness, vulnerability and inclination to constant change.”

Liquid Modernity, Zygmunt Bauman

“Liquid Identities” is an Amsterdam based project led by the Italian clarinetist and composer Federico Calcagno. It features a repertoire of original songs inspired by classical-contemporary chamber music, South Indian Carnatic music, and jazz and contemporary improvised music.
The adjective “liquid” refers to the vision of post-modernity analyzed by the sociologist Zygmunt Bauman in the book “Liquid Modernity”. The quintet won the 2nd prize in the Keep an Eye international contest 2019 and played in various clubs in the Netherlands. Their first album has been officially released on the 1st of June 2020 for Aut Records.
